What it is, and why it behaves this way
Cellulose is chemically modified and mixed with plasticisers to make acetate. Sheet material can be cut and polished into frames with depth and colour. Acetate is one plastic family; it does not describe every plastic frame.
Weight in context
A thick, oversized design uses more material; acetate is not automatically lightweight.
Flexibility & adjustment
Professional heat adjustment may be possible, depending on the design. It is not a memory material.
What to check when trying on
Check that the bridge contacts your nose evenly. Colour cannot compensate for a poor bridge fit.
Care & limitations
Avoid hot cars, hot water and unapproved solvents. Alcohol and acetone can affect acetate or its finish.
Put it into practice
Example: a small thin acetate frame and a large thick one can feel very different on the nose, despite sharing a material name.
A common assumption to check
Plant-derived does not mean unprocessed, home-compostable or allergy-proof.
